Title: The Visible, the Spoken and the Unspoken

Abstract:
The workshop explores the relationship between the “visible”, the “spoken” and the “unspoken” in the context of artistic research, focusing on the intertwining of power, language and representation. Dealing with the subject of Photography and Gendered Narratives, it approaches photography as a mechanism for producing visibility and normalization, but also as a tool for deconstructing dominant narratives.
The visibility of the body and its verbal framing constitute regimes of truth that determine which subjects are recognized and which are silenced. At the same time, the workshop examines the unspoken not as a lack of speech but as embodied and cultural knowledge that escapes the normative linguistic structure. Gesture, silence, orality and bodily memory are approached as threatened or minoritized artistic practices.
Through image re-titling exercises, performative explorations and hybrid image-text-body compositions, participants are invited to reflect on:
Who speaks? Who is visible? Who remains invisible? When does language function as a mechanism of power and when as an act of resistance?
The workshop proposes a transferable methodological model of artistic research that combines theoretical analysis, artistic practice and collective reflection, highlighting the political and epistemological dynamics of the unspoken.

Short biographies of the presenter(s):
- Bio: Eva Katsaiti is a visual artist, curator, and lecturer at the University of West Attica. Her work explores photography as a language of identity, memory, and belonging—bridging artistic practice with education, social awareness, and creative therapeutic processes. She views photography as a reflective and transformative medium that fosters inclusion and strengthens an individual’s sense of connection to the world.
  She holds a BA (Hons) in Photographic Arts from the University of Derby, an MA in Fine Art Photography from the University of Sydney, a Postgraduate Degree in Research Practice from Nottingham Trent University, and a Diploma in Adult Education. She has taught photography at the Universities of West Attica, Athens, Sydney.

Spatial and technical requirements :
A room that allows flexible configuration (circle and small groups), projector, computer, projection surface, work tables. Possibility of low lighting for performative exercise. Paper, markers, wall mounting tape.

The workshop may trigger personal experiences related to gender representation, exclusion or silence. A clear framework of care, voluntary participation and the possibility of abstention from exercises will be established. Personal material will not be used without consent.
