- Athene Currie is a Dr of Philosophy and academic researcher practicing photography, video and live performance. Drawing upon feminist viewpoints and gender theories her PhD research project Performing the Transformative (2021) addresses transformation and empowerment for women at menopause through rites of passage. The studio outcomes for this research are the live performance Suitcase (2021) and an immersive installation of performance video works. Athene presented at the 2024 Artists of Australia and New Zealand (AAANZ) Conference at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra with The Un-said: Call and response as a vehicle for the random embodiment of posthuman and ecofeminist concerns through spontaneous performance.
